Apple chutney

Apple chutney. You can make chutney with nearly any kind of fruits. This one we made with apple, raisins and cinnamon sticks.

Delicious with our other Indian recipes like lemon rice, cucumber raita, and palak paneer.

Apple chutney

Chutney is part and parcel of Indian cuisine. A spicy combination of sweet fruit, onions, raisins and delicious spices. And the great thing is that they keep well in the fridge for at least a month.

Ingrediënten

  • 600 g apples, we like to use sour apples for this
  • 2 big white onions
  • 100 g raisins
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 sprigs thyme
  • 4 cm ginger root, finely sliced or grated
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon aniseed
  • 100 ml apple vinegar
  • 100 ml water

Instructies

  • Peel the apples and cut into firm pieces. Peel the onions and cut them into pieces as well.
  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil.
  • Simmer gently for 45 minutes. Let cool and transfer to a clean glass jar.
