You often see the most beautiful Red Velvet cakes come by around Valentine’s Day or on Mother’s Day/Father’s Day. It is a way of expressing love for your partner, father or mother. Those recipes are sometimes complicated and take a long time to make. We looked for a Red Velvet recipe that is easy to make and certainly just as wonderful to give to your loved one or mother. But of course, these homemade biscuits can also go with any other occasion.

We made the Red Velvet biscuits with white chocolate in them. You don’t need to melt the chocolate first, as you chop the bar into pieces and add them to the batter at the end.

This recipe is also great fun to make with children. It is sure to be a hit, because what kid doesn’t want to make his or her mum or dad happy.

When they are ready, put them in a pretty little tin, tie around it and there you have your present!

Ingrediënten

  • 200 gr all-purpose-flour
  • 100 gr caster sugar
  • 80 gr light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 125 gr unsalted butter
  • 20 gr cocoa powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 100 gr white chocolate chopped
  • red food coloring
  • pinch of salt

Instructies

  • Preheat the oven to 175 degrees.
  • Cover a baking tray or two with baking paper.
  • Mix all the ingredients together except the white chocolate and the red food coloring.
  • When everything is well mixed add food coloring. A little at a time until you have the desired color.
  • Add the white chocolate pieces.
  • Shape the dough into balls and place them on the baking tray. Flatten them a bit. Don't put them too close together because they spread out a bit.
  • Bake the cookies for about 12 minutes.
  • Remove the tray from the oven, let the cookies cool slightly and then place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
