Gingerrice. We like rice with an extra kick. For this one we fried grated ginger and some garlic in butter, added the rice in the mix before boiling it all together to this savoury meal.

Spicy rice with ginger and garlic.

  • 200 g of basmati or jasmin rice
  • 2 tablespoons of grated ginger
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 300 g of vegetable stock
  • 3 spring onion
  • 2 tablespoons of butter


  • Melt the butter and fry the ginger and garlic in it for a few minutes.
  • Wash the rice well until the water remains translucent. Add the washed rice to the ginger, garlic mixture and stir well.
  • Now add the stock and, if necessary, some extra salt (just taste). Bring the rice to the boil.
  • Once the rice is boiling, put the lid on the pan and let the rice cook gently for 15 minutes. Do not remove the lid from the pan, this will keep the moisture in the pan and give a beautifully dry grain.
  • After 15 minutes, remove the lid from the pan and let the rice dry out for a few more minutes.
  • Garnish with small pieces of spring onion.
