Bundt cake, a timeles recipe.

When I was a kid I baked this bundt cake with my mom, later with my own daughter. And probably she will be baking it for her family in the future. Some recipes are timeless.

Bundt cake with chocolate sauce

I used to bake this bundt cake with my mother and now I bake it regularly for my own family.

  • bundt cake mold


  • 300 gr flour
  • 250 gr caster sugar
  • 300 gr (vegetable) butter, softened
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 bag vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp (vegetable) butter for greasing the mold
  • optional: chocolate drops, raisins, cranberries, candied fruit, grated lemon zest, grated orange zest


  • Preheat the oven to 175 degrees.
  • Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt.
  • Add the butter and mix until combined.
  • Then add the eggs one at a time. Wait with the next one until each egg is incorporated.
  • Add additional ingredients to taste. Examples: chocolate drops, raisins and cranberries, grated lemon zest, candied fruit, grated orange zest.
  • Pour the batter into the greased bundt mold and bake in the oven at 175 degrees for 50 minutes. Pierce with a skewer to check if the bundt cake is cooked. If the skewer comes out clean, the bundt cake is ready. Otherwise, let it cook for a few more minutes.

Chocolate sauce

  • Melt the chocolate au bain marie until melted. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a few tablespoons of milk.
  • Pour the chocolate sauce over the cake
